In this part:

Unsure of what to say because, well, I was that relaxed.

Musings on strolling versus my usual brisk walk.

Slight anxiety on going to a nightclub next week to see a friend perform there. (It's unheard of to use the word “nightclub” and my name in the same sentence.)

I've been feeling good lately—even joyful. That doesn't usually remind me of calm and contented feelings, but this time it did.

In this part:

Day in review; woke up late, juggling clubs in Fort Tryon Park.

Feeling relaxed and calm and happy—with coffee.

Looking forward to meeting with Sara and Sarah for Sin City (yes, again).

Reviewing yesterday; shopping, squash, and conversation with a new friend.

Cookies and milk and being read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy at Melinda's.

Musings on the potential for a meeting with someone who found me online.

As a result, I lost five minutes of ranting and had to recall it from memory.

In this part:

Goals for how to balance my life.

Feeling different; more free to do the things I want, without filters or self-censorship.

What not to do: no more staying out 'til dawn every night due to the same “scene.”

What to do: work while being social, be social while working. Network more. Learn more. Do more. Do differently.

The great feelings of returning to a social group after a long absence.

At the end, I get cut off but by then I was just rambling anyway.

In this part:

Memories of the West Village, especially Horatio Street and Hudson Street near Bleeker.

More reflections on the changes in myself; I'm no longer really shy nor awkward in social situations.

Musings on potential dangers of being too social.

Notes to self about how much work I need to do in other aspects of my life.

Assertions on the importance of a balanced lifestyle; social, but also professionally-minded as well as introspective.

My cell phone sucks, so the quality of these audio posts is sub-par. Nevertheless, there are some deeply personal reflections here.

In this part:

Thirty-second overview of my busy day.

Observations on my increased social confidence.

Theories on what's changed and how it affects my social encounters.

Noting the changes in myself, such as the fact that I no longer really consider myself “shy.”

Wanting to meet with new friends that I'm making sometime during the week.

Being exactly where I want to be. And planning it.

Reflections on where I am in my quest for self-sufficiency.

Differences between my Mac Meeting group and the MetroMac organization.

One Mac Meeting member's experience trying to shop at the Apple Store, and the trouble she went through because of it. (Also how we helped her!)

The problems with muddying the waters of an informal group with monetary requirements.

Trying to “see a need, fill a need.”

<img src="http://www.blogblog.com/audiopost.gif" class="audImg"border="0" alt="this is an audio post - click to play" />

Leadership (Part 1)

While I was making salad at night, I decided to get on the phone and do some audioblogging. (Why not, right?) This three-part post is what came of my ramblings.

In this first part, I touch on the following topics:

Observations on all the social events I've been involved with lately.

Some reflection on the effects of leading and organizing Meetup groups.

On the way, I decide to pick up my cell phone and post an audioblog.

It was rather interesting to note that, more than anything else, it felt like I was simply talking on the phone. This, of course, because others must have assumed that that's what I was doing. In any case, here's a brief overview of what I rambled on about:

A brief overview of my day.

Reflections on the interconnectedness between my various interests and opportunities lately. More specifically, observations on how cool it is that my self-activism on business networking sites such as Ryze is indirectly responsible for my interest in podcasting, and which is in turn indirectly responsible for my willingness to attend and interest in public speaking courses.

An example of the above: on the train towards the Rubik's Cube meetup I was cubing and talked about the cube to a young boy and his father who seemed interested in it.

Feelings of excitement as I looked forward to go to the Columbia University Games Club for the first time and meet its members. (Yes, it did go very, very well tonight and I had a lot of fun.)

Unfortunately, Audioblogger has a time limit for audio posts, and this post exceeded the time limit. Thus, it is split into two separate entries.

Also note that I have the cell phone from hell, so the quality of this post is decidedly sub-par. There are parts where I can't be understood or even heard at all because of the utterly poor quality that is T-Mobile. (Do not get a T-Mobile contract if you are in a metropolitan area!)

Below is part one in this two-part audioblog entry.

Hello World, from the Audio Blog

In this short first-ever podcast for me, I just say hello and start experimenting with what it might be like to audioblog.
